"We travel for a good cause": Minoan Lines supports children with cancer
Minoan Lines has recently intensified its social
commitment by supporting "Iliahtida" ("The ray of
sunshine"), the Pancretan Association of Parents and Friends of Children
with Neoplasia. Active in Crete for nearly 30 years now, the association
provides assistance to children with cancer and their families.
As part of the " We travel for a good cause"
campaign, the Greek Grimaldi Group company donated 1 euro for every ticket sold
for trips on 24 and 30 December between Piraeus, Milos and Heraklion. The total
amount raised – 5,000 euros – was handed over in January at a meeting between Minoan
Lines CEO Lucas Sigalas and Iliakhtida President Maria Efstratiou
at the association’s guest house at the University Hospital of Heraklion.
This initiative reflects the company's ongoing
commitment to supporting meaningful social causes and promoting solidarity
within the Cretan community. "Social responsibility is at the core of
Minoan Lines' healthy operation and development," stated Lucas
Sigalas. "Since its establishment in 1972, the company has consistently
supported health, culture, sports, education, sustainable development and the
environment. Today, we’re proud to contribute to strengthening Iliakhtida’s
work. Children are the future, and we must stand by their side."
"I would like to express my deepest gratitude
to Minoan Lines for this valuable donation and for their constant, long-term
support of our work, which helps us both financially and morally,"
said Maria Efstratiou on behalf of the association. "We’re especially
proud and grateful to work alongside companies like Minoan Lines, which
consistently support vulnerable groups and sectors of society through their
programs and initiatives. We look forward to continuing this excellent
cooperation."
